Spin Art Activity
5 minutes prep | Long play | Mess-free
Who enjoys watching colourful geometric circles form organically? This fun and easy science spin art activity for kids is amazingly therapeutic!
What You Need
1 electric mixer
Some blu tack/ tape
1 piece of thick white paper/ card
1 set of colourful markers
How to Do It
Note: Close adult supervision required.
Connect the electric mixer to a power source.
Secure the piece of paper to the metal tip of the mixer with blu tack or a tape.
Get your colourful markers ready on hand and start the mixer!
Place your marker pen lightly against the spinning paper at one position (do not move your pen tip). Adjust the marker pressure on the spinning paper to ensure that enough ink appears as concentric circles on paper, but not too much pressure such that the paper spins off the mixer.
Lift your marker pen after a concentric circle is drawn. Change to another colour marker pen and position it a distance away from previous drawn circles. Beautiful mesmerising concentric circles will start to form!

Hints and Tips
You may wish to trial the mixer spin speed first to ensure that the paper is secure before you engage your child.
Ensure that your child is about an arm's length away from the spinning mixer for safety reasons.
